The SCDE issued guidance for implementing a process of identifying diverse student subgroups such as migratory students, students experiencing homelessness, multilingual learners, and immigrant children and youth. This information will be consolidated into an Enrollment Survey which must be embedded into every school’s enrollment processes, including online registration. Below are the documents provided from the SCDE.
The South Carolina Department of Education (SCDE) has made updates to the Enrollment Survey, effective for the 2026–2027 school year. These changes most immediately affect schools that use enrollment platforms for student registration.
Implementation should begin now to ensure that all revised 2026–2027 enrollment surveys reflect the updated requirements. During monitoring, the SCDE will review enrollment surveys to verify that the changes have been implemented for all students enrolling for the 2026–2027 school year.

Please note that all South Carolina schools are required to implement the Enrollment Survey as part of their registration process. This is not a new requirement; however, the survey has been updated, and schools must ensure the revised version is used.
